Remade
Remade is a project that has Western's Junior ID students reach out to local companies or businesses, collect scrap or surplus materials, and create a set of marketable products.
Kipper
These small, birdhouse-inspired pieces, liven up any room with a touch of warmth and playfulness. Kippers enjoy being next to each other, high up on shelves or picture frames, away from cats.
Sketches
A simple rectangle and triangle birdhouse design was selected due to its versatile adjustable dimensions and ease of manufacturing.
Manufacturing
The process, step by step.
the "rAW" mATERIAL
Kippers repurpose high quality cupboard and butcher-block offcuts from local woodworkers.
processing
This wood is then cut to roughly 1"x1" cubes and glued to each other. This process goes smoothly because many of these offcuts are 1" x 1" beams.
Shaping
Then, these scraps are reformed into a friendly familiar shape, sanded, drilled, and polished. Each one is hand shaped and given unique dimensions.
Finishing touches
Simple ribbon labels are then applied to each kipper. They are sold in set of three. Customer choice.
Remade rebranding
I also redesigned the logo for remade.
Letters r + e were combined in a way to denote circularity, optimism, and modernity while keeping  the logo familiar to returning customers.
